Public Petition Information - pdfRequesting Information
How do I request information?
The City of Leduc endeavors to make general information available to the public through routine dissemination whenever possible.
Any information in the custody and control of the municipality may be requested with a written request. However, there are specific guidelines set out by the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIP) that determine whether information may be released entirely or released in part. Consideration to releasing information is carefully weighed against stipulations set out by the FOIP legislation.
If you would like to request information that is not routinely available, you are required to do one of the following:
- complete and submit an official Access to Information Request Form
or - send a written request indicating the desired information pursuant to the FOIP Act
A $25.00 administration fee must accompany a written request. Additional fees may be charged in accordance with the FOIP legislation and/or the city's Fees and Charges Bylaw, and an applicant will be notified of any additional costs at the time of the request.
The more detailed the request, the more efficiently the request can be answered. Dates, times and locations will assist with processing a request. Contact information regarding information requests for the City of Leduc and other organizations can be found here.
What if I am not satisfied with the information I receive?
If an applicant is not satisfied with the results of a request, they should first discuss any concerns with the privacy officer. Unsatisfied applicants may send a written appeal to the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner (OIPC). Once an appeal has been made an investigation into the initial request will be performed by the OIPC.
