Mayor's Task Force on Neighbourhood Design

The mayor's task force on neighbourhood design is a committee with the mandate to establish guidelines that will direct new residential development. These guidelines are to be based on feedback provided from Leduc residents and stakeholders. Guidelines include:

  • The appropriate width of residential roadways
  • Considerations for park location and design
  • Incorporation of sustainable design practices
  • The ratio of small, medium and large lots
  • The location of low, medium and high density development
  • The location of commercial development/convenience stores

Once developed and adopted by City Council, the Neighbourhood Design Guidelines are intended to provide (1) a common understanding within the City Administration regarding neighbourhood design; (2) communicate to developers the City’s expectations in the design of residential areas; and (3) generally allow for well thought-out and integrated residential areas.
