Garbage
Schedule and Guidelines
Garbage collection is provided weekly, year round. Please have your garbage at your pick-up location the night before or by 7:00 a.m. on your scheduled pick up day.
New to Leduc or moving within Leduc? Call 780.980.7107 to find out your garbage collection day. Changes to the garbage collection schedule will be advertised in the Leduc Representative (i.e. Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Years' Day schedule changes.) Each household is limited to four bags/cans, or one 75 Imperial Gallon (90 US Gallon) cart per pick up.
Acceptable Receptacles:
- plastic or metal refuse can with measurements that do not exceed an average of 18" (40 cm) in diameter and height not to exceed 33" (84 cm), the volume or capacity of which does not exceed 4 cu.ft. (0.11 cu.m.) or 60 lbs. (27 kilograms) when lifted
- non-returnable plastic bags no less than 1.25 mil thickness, securely tied at the top when ready for collection, and being no more than 26" (66 cm) in width, no more than 36" (91 cm) in height, and capable of holding 60 lbs. (27 kilograms) of contents when lifted
- a 75 Imperial Gallon (90 US gallon) Schaffer roll out (or equivalent) refuse can and when filled with waste, the total weight will not exceed 150 lbs. (70 kilograms). For the purpose of comparing capacities, one 75 Imperial Gallon Schaffer refuse can is equivalent to 4 plastic bags or 4 plastic/metal refuse cans as described above
Tickets for additional bags
If your garbage exceeds four bags/cans, or one cart you must purchase a tag for $1.00 per extra bag/can/cart. Tags are available for purchase at the Civic Centre during office hours, Leduc Recreation Centre customer service west entrance, and Sobey's customer service.
Violation tags
If the waste collection driver leaves a City of Leduc "violation tag" on your unemptied container, the reason will be identified on the tag. Violation examples include:
- over the limit
- overweight container
- oversized container
- liquids in container
- dirt, rocks, cement,sod, steel, wood or demolition waste
- not bundled or tied
- containers not accessible
Environmental Fee
The environmental programs fee which appears on your water/sewer utility bill assists with funding the city's environmental programs.
