Operations
Apparatus and related rescue equipment stationed at the Protective Services Building include the following.City Owned:
Engine 1 is a 2010 Pierce Velocity driven by a Cummins ISM 500hp engine with an Allison Gen IV 4000 EVS P 6 speed automatic transmission. This unit is equipped wiht a Waterous CSU 1750 US gpm single stage pump with heat enclosure and hot water heater for cold weather operations. It carries 750 US gallons of water and a Husky 12 Single Agent foam system with 60 US gallon foam cell.

Engine 2 is a 1996 White Freightliner FL106 and was delivered in December 1996. It features a 4-cylinder series 50 Detroit diesel capable of producing 315 horsepower. This pumper has an Allison 5 speed automatic and is equipped with a Waterous 1500 g.p.m. pump. It has a tank capacity of 700 gallons and carries 25 gallons of Class B foam and 10 gallons of Class A foam.

Ladder 1 is an E-1 HP-70 aerial (2000 model) on a Cyclone II cab. This unit, capable of seating eight firefighters, has two rescue pods at the ladder tip and is the first of it’s kind in Canada. A 6V92 Detroit diesel engine and an automatic transmission power this truck. It is equipped with a Waterous 1750 g.p.m. midship pump and carries 500 gallons of water. The aerial has an independent breathing air supply for the rescue pods.

Alpha 1, 2 and 3 are the designated call signs for the three, 2003 Crestline Legend ambulances. The ambulances are on a Ford F450 Chassis and are equipped at an Advanced Life Support Level.
Winter rescues are carried out using a 2000 Polaris Classic Touring snowmobile equipped with a hitch for towing a rescue toboggan. A twin 600 c.c engine, powers the snowmobile which is set up for two rescuers and crash kit.
