Aptitude Test

To succeed in the demanding fire-rescue environment, firefighters must have specific skills. The aptitude test content areas are cognitive and non cognitive based and include:

  • Basic skills of reading, writing and mathematics
  • Judgement, reasoning, communication, motivation and other skills and aptitudes
  • Situational questions
  • Questions about you
  • Teamwork, public relations, and community living

Applicants will be advised of the date and time of the aptitude test. It is a 4-hour, multiple choice, computer-scored tests. An external company analyzes the overall results to determine scoring.

There will be no re-writes during the recruitment process. A grouping of the highest-ranked applicants who passed the test will advance to the next stage of the recruitment process.
