Block Parties
A neighbourhood block party is the opportunity for neighbours to get together, meet each other, have fun and maybe work together on a common activity. Getting together with neighbours for a warm evening of fun and food is not only enjoyable but it also enables a renewed attachment among people in your area. The City of Leduc does allow block parties on selected residential streets. Having a block party is just the kind of event that makes Leduc a great place to live.
For incentive to be part of the program, the City of Leduc (in partnership with Sobeys) will give a $100 gift certificate to use for your Block Party!
Top 10 Reasons to have a Block Party
- Have fun - no excuses or reasons needed to celebrate
- To meet your neighbors. When you know who lives in your neighborhood, the more likely you are to identify strangers or suspicious people
- To increase your sense of belonging in the community
- Establish new friendships
- To learn a little about each other and who might need a little extra help from time to time
- To meet some old time residents in the neighborhood and learn about your communities history
- To make additional connections within the community. When you know people, you can exchange skills or resources and perhaps organize a book club, baby-sitting co-op, share walking to school duties, or find new friends for your children
- To have a neighborhood clean-up day, play some good music and barbecue once all the work is done
- To start a neighborhood tradition of getting together at least once a year!
