Commemorative Bench Program

The Commemorative Bench program offers a permanent remembrance or tribute toward a loved one. Leduc’s parks offer unique locations for a commemorative park bench. Benches benefit all age groups in providing a resting place along a walking trail or allowing for a place to sit while enjoying Leduc’s natural areas. The bench selected for this program is a maintenance free, full frame six foot bench, with a custom plaque inset located in the middle back. This plaque will be engraved with the inscription provided.

How to Participate?

Applications for the Commemorative Bench program are accepted year round and benches are placed between May-September of each year. Each application must include the name and contact information of the applicant; the wording to be engraved on the plaque that will be placed on the backrest of the bench, and the requested location of the bench. The site will be selected by the applicant and reviewed by municipal staff for its suitability. Some locations may not be accepted due to space availability. You will be contacted to discuss your choice.

Program Costs

The cost of the bench selected for the commemorative bench program is $2,500. This fee includes the cost of the bench, plaque, engraving, installation (includes cement pad), and applicable taxes. Payment can be made directly to the City of Leduc Department of Community Development and Service Planning. Upon receipt of all fees and taxes, the City of Leduc will provide a letter confirming the donation which may be used for income tax purposes. Cheques can be made payable to the City of Leduc, mailed or dropped off to the City of Leduc Civic Centre, #1 Alexandra Park, Leduc, AB T9E 4C4.
