City of Leduc Canadian Emergency Commercial Rent Assistance (CECRA) Support Program
Small business is the heart of Leduc. In an effort to support our Small Businesses, as well as the landlords they lease from, the City of Leduc is offering relief funding to commercial landlords interested in accessing Canadian Emergency Commercial Rent Assistance (CECRA) from the Government of Canada. While we understand there has been considerable enthusiasm for a program that can provide rent relief, the City recognizes that there is work involved for our commercial landlords in collecting the information, required documents and completing the CMHC forms necessary to apply for the benefit. Demonstrating the City’s commitment to preserving and enhancing business throughout the pandemic and into recovery, the City of Leduc is prepared to relieve some of the costs incurred by a landlord in accessing the CECRA support program.
The City has created a support program to provide additional assistance to commercial landlords, with properties within the City limits meeting the program eligibility requirements. We are prepared to help relieve some of the expense of a Landlord requiring a third party qualified agency (third party designated practitioner includes agencies knowledgeable with CRA and CMHC rules and regulations, and auditing, such as an accountant or bookkeeper) to assist them to understand the program details and with the collection of information required (including landlord and tenant portions) and the preparation/completion of the documentation for both landlord and tenant(s), in accordance with the program guidelines required to submit a CECRA application.
To take advantage of the City’s program, the third party agency will be required to submit an application which will include the name and address of both the landlord and tenant which are party to the CECRA agreement, and check off the funded services provided. The City will get back to the applicant within two business days of submitting the application on the website. The City will provide $50 for the review of the initial CECRA documents per landlord, and a further $200 per confirmation of application for the program. Payment will be made directly to the third party agency.
Please note, funds for this cost recovery support are limited, and will be distributed on a first come, first served basis.
