On This Spot

On this Spot app features a walking and driving tour through Leduc’s history. At each stop, find yourself standing on the spot a historic photo was taken. You can view a ‘then and now’ photo comparison, read about people, places, and experiences in the photos, and even use the built-in camera to capture your own ‘then and now’ shot. Acknowledging that not all individuals or groups have the time to read a long historical brief, each tour stop has a quick description, as well as a more in-depth information. The app is available through the App Store and on Google Play.

Culture Days FAQ

What is Culture Days?

“Culture Days is a national celebration of arts and culture. During September, millions of people attend thousands of free participatory arts and culture events across the country. Culture Days programs invite the public to get hands-on and behind-the-scenes to highlight the importance of arts and culture in our communities.”

This year, we've aligned our Culture Days observance with that of the Government of Alberta, September 1 - 30. We encourage the community to host and participate in cultural events happening in the region during this month. Submit your cultural event or view a list of events happening near you on the Government of Alberta's Culture Days website.

How is the city celebrating Culture Days?

Through our commitment to culture, we are supporting our community partners and local businesses in their celebratory efforts to spotlight the impact of arts and culture in the service they provide in the community. This includes encouraging community events hosted by not-for-profits and businesses to promote themselves under the ‘Culture Days’ events calendar on the Alberta Culture Days web page.

Why is Culture Days so important?

As a whole, Culture Days aims to:

FOSTER appreciation and support of the artistic and cultural life that is lived, created and expressed across the country in urban, suburban and rural areas alike;

PROMOTE direct interaction between creators and the public, as a key to increasing understanding and appreciation of art and culture; and

AFFIRM that every citizen is the guardian of the cultural life of his, her or their community.
