2017 Citizens of Distinction honoured by City of Leduc

The City of Leduc announced the recipients of the 2017 Citizens of Distinction Awards at last night’s Volunteer Appreciation Banquet.  This year’s honourees are:

  • Paul Drader – Community Spirit Award
  • Kevin Tritten – Athletic Achievement Award
  • Tony and Karen Lake – Arts, Culture and Heritage Award
  • Brittney Trimming – Youth Award of Merit
  • Leduc Wildlife Conservation Society – Environmental Achievement Award
  • Leduc Communities in Bloom Committee – Mayor’s Special Award

Every year, the Citizens of Distinction Awards are handed out to recognize six extraordinary residents, groups or businesses within the City of Leduc that have made outstanding contributions to the community. The award winners are honoured at the city’s Volunteer Appreciation Banquet, which is held each year as part of National Volunteer Week.

Nominations for the awards are accepted through the winter each year in five of the six categories, while the Mayor’s Special Award winner is chosen at the discretion of mayor and council.
