Action-packed roster to celebrate 2022 Youth Week in Leduc
Starting Aug. 7, Leduc’s younger population will have a buffet of options with local events, training opportunities and more to mark Youth Week in the city.
“We are continually looking at ways where we can offer more community-based activities for our local youth, factoring in their input on what matters to them,” says Leduc Mayor Bob Young. “Creating Youth Week in Leduc gives us the opportunity to expand on International Youth Day. Our younger demographic plays an integral role in how this community continues to evolve in meaningful ways that shape a more positive future for them to inherit; and we want to support that.”
From Aug. 7 to 13, multiple events are hosted every day throughout the community, kicking off with a youth day trip to the Sylvan Lake Splash Park and wrapping up with Rock the Rails on Aug. 13 at the Leduc Skate Park. Other activities include shinny hockey, Youth Council’s Community Clean-up, Community Helpers training, and more. A full event roster can be found on the city’s website. Any programs requiring registration will be identified.
“Youth Week in Leduc also places a spotlight on youth leadership opportunities, as demonstrated in Leduc Youth Council’s Community Clean-up,” says Mayor Young. “This is a project near and dear to their hearts, organized by them as a way to create community connections and support the environment.”
