Monday, March 8, 2021

The City of Leduc and TELUS announced a partnership at this evening’s meeting of Leduc City Council that will see the communications and technology company bring their revolutionary PureFibre internet service to the city’s downtown core over the next two years.

“We have heard loud and clear from local businesses that this last year has been particularly tough, and we continue to seek innovative opportunities to give them a competitive edge in the local, regional and global economy,” says Leduc Mayor Bob Young. “Bringing broadband internet service to our business community will help them to expand their services online to the world market, while also supporting local jobs.”

The installation of PureFibre service lines will be funded and overseen by TELUS, and will include engagement with business properties in the area prior to the start of construction. The construction schedule will be released at a later date, and once completed it will cover the city’s downtown area, business parks, and Leduc Common. TELUS and the City anticipate work to be completed by the fall of next year.

“TELUS is proud to continue its longstanding commitment to Leduc by empowering businesses in the city with access to the world-class connectivity our PureFibre network delivers,” said Brian Bettis, GM of Northern Alberta at TELUS. “With a PureFibre connection, businesses in Leduc will be able to operate locally and compete globally like never before, taking full advantage of cloud-computing applications, managed-IT services, and enhanced reliability. PureFibre will also serve the local economy encouraging investment and attracting businesses to the city, helping to promote growth and greater economic prosperity, contributing to thriving Leduc well into the future.”

“Reliable and strong broadband connectivity has the power to open Leduc businesses up to the world, and understanding this we’ve been advocating for and exploring options to bring this service to our community for some time,” says Young. “TELUS has been a valuable and collaborative partner to our city and we are grateful for their ongoing commitment to supporting growth and innovation in Leduc.”

Through significant long-term investment, TELUS has built global-leading networks that enable Canadians businesses to stay connected in real-time to customers and partners around the globe. The TELUS PureFibre network, which represents the best Internet technology available with symmetrical upload and download speeds, enable businesses to send and receive large files with ease, video-conference in stunning clarity, and work with real-time data in the cloud.

More information will be coming from TELUS in the near future with specifics about the project, and further information about TELUS PureFibre can be found at //TELUS.com/PureFibre.
