Collaborative effort leads to arrest

Following a lengthy joint investigation with Leduc RCMP and Viking RCMP, a male was arrested on nine charges relating to break and enter, possession of stolen property and mischief.

On May 26, 2020 Viking RCMP received a report of a break and enter at the Viking Golf Course that occurred at 3:20 a.m. A golf cart and clubs were stolen. Upon review of video surveillance two suspects along with a truck and trailer were observed. This information was shared with the Leduc Crime Reduction Unit who immediately started investigating the incident and links to Leduc area.

On June 18, 2020, Leduc RCMP Crime Reduction Unit executed a search warrant at a residence on 46th Street in Leduc. A search of the house and out buildings resulted in the recovery of stolen property. Some of the items police seized included:

  • Dirt bike
  • Trailer
  • Golf cart
  • Golf clubs

Police have been unable to determine the owner of the dirt bike and are seeking the public’s assistance to return the dirt bike to its rightful owner.

Jason Peter Emter (45) of Leduc was arrested and charged with nine offences including:

  • Break and entering with intent
  • Possession of property obtained by crime for the purpose of trafficking x2
  • Possession of break-in instruments
  • Possession of property obtained by crime x2
  • Mischief under
  • Failure to comply with release order x2

He was held for a judicial hearing and has been remanded into custody to appear in court in Viking on July 6, 2020 and in Leduc on July 9, 2020.
