“Congratulations to all of the 2019 Citizens of Distinction Award recipients,” said Leduc Mayor Bob Young. “Your incredible community spirit and successes have made Leduc proud. I’d also like to thank every person who has gone out of their way to volunteer, to be kind, and to help others in our community. It is because of you that Leduc is such an incredible place to live.”

The 2020 award ceremony was postponed to 2021 due to the pandemic. A year later, COVID-19 remains and the health and safety of the community and award recipients continues to be a priority. As a result, it was decided to proceed with a virtual celebration.

Although the Citizens of Distinction program was paused last year, it is more important than ever to recognize the contributions residents made in 2020. The Kindness Counts initiative was created to feature these incredible acts of volunteerism and kindness.

The Citizens of Distinction Awards recognize six outstanding citizens, groups or businesses from the City of Leduc that have made notable contributions to our community. Nominations are solicited in five of six categories, while the Mayor’s Special Award is presented at the discretion of Mayor and Council.
