Masking will be mandatory on Leduc Transit starting Aug. 1, 2020

Tuesday, July 28, 2020

Starting Aug. 1, all Leduc Transit and LATS (Leduc Assisted Transportation Service) users will be required to wear masks when on board the transit system. This supports the decision made by Edmonton Transit Service last week and is in line with public health best practice to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

“The health and safety of our riders is not only our top priority, but also our responsibility when they are on board our vehicles,” said Shawn Olson, Acting General Manager of Infrastructure and Planning with the City of Leduc. “We determined that making mask wearing mandatory is the right thing to do to protect the health of riders, and reduces confusion by having the same requirements across the region for transit users.”

Transit users who don’t have their own mask may be able to obtain one on a first come, first served basis when they board a Leduc Transit vehicle. This is part of the provincial relaunch strategy to mitigate the risks of community transmission of the virus.
