National Volunteer Week 2018
From April 15 to 21, Volunteer Canada, Volunteer Alberta, the City of Leduc and Volunteer Leduc celebrate Canada’s 13.3 million volunteers during National Volunteer Week (NVW).
Alberta volunteers contribute over 250 million hours to the provincial economy every year—the equivalent of 176,000 full-time jobs, or upwards of $8 billion. That’s over 2% of Alberta’s GDP in unpaid, volunteer human resources—now try to imagine how the province would operate without volunteers, and you have a sense of their real value.
The City of Leduc and Volunteer Leduc will be honouring our local volunteers during NVW at the Volunteer Appreciation Banquet on April 19th. This event is held annually to recognize the extraordinary and selfless work our local volunteers do each year and the contributions they make to our community.
During NVW, we encourage all residents to thank the neighbours, family members, co-workers and friends who offer up their time to make our community a better place to work, live and play.
