New bike skills event to help promote safe cycling in Leduc
Leduc Enforcement Services is replacing their annual school bicycle safety presentations with a one-day event for children to demonstrate their cycling abilities and learn more about bike safety.
- WHAT: Leduc Bike Rodeo
- WHEN: Sunday, June 9, 2019 (Noon – 3 p.m.)
- WHERE: Alexandra Arena
Registration is required by June 3
“We want to help set children up for success and this event allows them to test their bike skills and knowledge, while learning valuable safety techniques for when they’re out on their bikes,” says Sgt. Michael Stadnyk, with Leduc Enforcement Services.
This three-hour event will include a variety of activities to teach youth about bike safety, promote riding skills and proper instruction on the ‘rules of the road.’ All participates will require:
- A proper helmet
- A bicycle in good condition (no training wheels)
- Closed-toed running shoes
- Proper riding clothing
Parents and caregivers are asked to register their child, before June 3, at the Leduc Recreation Centre (4330 Black Gold Drive) or by calling 780-980-7120.
For more information, please call Leduc Enforcement Services at 780-980-7200 option 5.
