Spring Bird Count returns for 2019

Tuesday, May 28, 2019

Residents are encouraged to participate in this year’s spring bird count June 2 - 8 to enjoy Leduc’s outdoors and learn more about the various species of birds that call the region home.

Participation in the bird count is easy:

  • Call the Eco-smart Hotline for a tally sheet or download one online.
  • Watch for birds for at least 30 minutes — or all week long — anywhere in the Leduc, Beaumont or Kavanagh region.
  • Return your completed tally sheet no later than Sunday, June 16 to ecosmart@leduc.ca.

All participants returning completed tally sheets will be entered into a random prize draw.

A bird identification guide is available for download at Leduc.ca to help identify our feathered friends. Free printed copies are available on a first-come first-serve basis at the Leduc Public Library or by calling the Eco-smart Hotline at 780-980-7107.

The spring and Christmas bird counts are joint initiatives of the Leduc Environmental Advisory Board (LEAB) and the City of Leduc and sponsored by Canadian Tire.
