Youth can stay active this summer with free LRC membership

Friday, June 7, 2019

Youth in the City of Leduc and Leduc County now have a variety of opportunities to enjoy free and discounted membership at the Leduc Recreation Centre this summer. From July 2 to August 31, youth ages 8-17 can access select city facilities as a means to be active and involved during the summer months.

Membership options are:

  1. 2019 Grade 8 and 9 Students: receive free access to the LRC,
Alexandra Outdoor Pool and Leduc Transit local routes, excluding Route 1.
  2. Youth Summer Membership: receive all-day access to the LRC and
Alexandra Outdoor Pool for $25 per month (ages 8-17).
  3. Child/ Youth Evening Pass: receive free access to the LRC
    Monday-Friday from 5-9 p.m. (ages 8-17).

“Leduc is happy to provide its youth with more opportunities to stay active over the summer,” says Leduc Mayor Bob Young. “Access to city amenities like the LRC, Alexandra Outdoor Pool and Leduc Transit helps make sure they get the most out of summer before heading back to school.”

New membership options were created following youth-focused engagement in 2018, where feedback from grade 8 and 9 students indicated a desire for increased recreational opportunities. As part of the Youth Wellness Initiative, the City of Leduc is seeking applications from local organizations willing to provide new or enhanced opportunities for youth in exchange for financial assistance.

More information on the Youth Wellness Partnership and LRC youth membership options is available online at Leduc.ca/youth or by calling LRC Guest Services at 780-980-7120.
