Facility Closures

  • All City of Leduc recreation facilities (including the Leduc Recreation Centre and Alexandra Arena) are closed until further notice.
  • All City of Leduc buildings including the Civic Centre, Operations Building, Public Services Building, Fire Houses and Eco Station are closed to the public until further notice.

Program Changes/Cancellations/Postponements

  • The following Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) programs are temporarily suspended: homemaking, subsidized counselling intakes, and the Recreation Assistance Program.
  • The Volunteer Income Tax Program is currently available via telephone only. Please call FCSS at 780-980-7109 to access the program and/or inquire whether or not you qualify.
  • The FCSS office will be closed to visitors as of 4:30 p.m. on March 17th, but they can still be accessed by phone at 780-980-7109. (Call-in hours: Mondays to Fridays - 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; Closed weekends and statutory holidays; Please call 211 outside of these hours for assistance)
  • All instructor-led programs (including aquatics, recreation and fitness programs) and drop-in leisure opportunities are cancelled until further notice. LRC’s spring program session which was scheduled to run from April 6th until the end of June is cancelled. This applies to all spring programming including swimming lessons, leadership courses, Spring Break camps, as well as fitness, recreation and educational programs for all age groups.Any registered program participants who are impacted by this cancellation will receive prorated credits to their account. 
  • All remaining performances and bookings at the Maclab Centre for the Performing Arts have been cancelled for the remainder of the 2019/20 season. 
  • The Leduc Volunteer Fair (Mar. 21) has been cancelled.
  • The Volunteer Appreciation Banquet (Apr. 23) has been postponed. Further details will be announced at a later date, but those who have purchased tickets will have the option of a full refund or a guaranteed spot at the rescheduled event.

Enhanced Cleaning

  • Enhanced cleaning protocols are in place, with both frequency and intensity of cleaning in city facilities (including the LRC, Leduc Transit and all city buildings) amenities being increased.

Property

Property assessment complaints

The city’s complaint deadline is March 30, 2020, per provincial guidelines. City administration has contacted the province to extend the deadline. Once more information is made available, an update will be provided via the financial resources page.

Utility Payments

A utility deferral program is currently available to those in need as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak. To defer your utility payments, please email collections@leduc.ca or click HERE for more information. Please note, no penalty fees or service disconnections will be applied to any accounts in arrears during this time.

Per regular, bi-monthly scheduling all bills will continue to be distributed to customers. Utility account holders who have the means to continue making their bi-monthly payments can do so through one of the following methods:

  • Online banking
  • With a credit card through the online services utility payment system
  • By cheque through the drop-off slot at the Leduc Civic Centre
  • By mailing a cheque to: City of Leduc, 1 Alexandra Park, Leduc, AB, T9E 4C4
  • For any questions please email utilities@leduc.ca

New utility accounts can be created by printing and completing the online application for City Utilities and submit by either:

  • Emailing utilities@leduc.ca or
  • Using the drop-off slot at the Leduc Civic Centre or
  • Faxing 780-980-7127

Property Tax Payments

Property tax mailouts are being deferred, with notices being mailed out in mid-July and the new property tax deadline being set for Aug. 31, 2020. The deferral of property tax mailouts should have no impact on those who are currently signed up for the Tax Installment Payment Plan (TIPP). However, if you do have any questions, please email propertytaxes@leduc.ca

Once property tax mailouts are sent in mid-July, property owners can pay their taxes through one of the following methods:

  • Monthly automatic deductions through TIPP
  • By cheque through the drop-off slot at the Leduc Civic Centre
  • By mailing a cheque to: City of Leduc, 1 Alexandra Park, Leduc, AB, T9E 4C4

Public Transportation

  • Effective March 25, 2020, some Leduc Transit routes and schedules have been temporarily adjusted. 
  •  Leduc Transit will not be charging fares until April 30, 2020; riders travelling from Leduc to Edmonton via Route 10 and ETS Route 747 will need to ask the Leduc Transit drivers for a transfer, otherwise ETS will charge the $5 fare.
  •  LATS will be operating Monday to Friday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Early morning service (6 - 8 a.m.) is being added to accommodate stores that are opening early for seniors. Please note that only registered LATS clients are able to book trips. LATS will not be charging fares until April 30, 2020.
  • Cleaning procedures and frequency have both been enhanced to protect the wellness of passengers and operators.

Public Services

  • Cemetery plot pre-sales will be suspended at this time, exceptions will be made for special circumstances. To abide with preventative measures, Cemetery Administration are unable to meet with clients in person. However, we are available to assist clients by phone at 780-980-7107 or by email at cemeteries@leduc.ca.  
  • The 2020 Community Garden program will continue as planned, however, physical distancing and other health protocols (as outlined by Alberta Health Services and the Province of Alberta) will be enforced. Please note: all garden plots for the 2020 season are now spoken for.
  • The Eco Station is open April 28, 2020 and the RV Sani-Station open May 1, 2020.
  • Water Utility - Utility services are operating as usual.
