Overview:

The City is installing two drawdown wells at the Elks Park Former Reclaimed Landfill, and at the City’s Former Public Works Main Yard and Shop in Lede Park.

  • The purpose of the drawdown wells is to support remedial action and on-going risk management at the sites, where contamination of the groundwater has been identified.
  • The drawdown wells will be tied into the Alberta Capital Region Wastewater Commission for treatment until effective remediation has been deemed complete by Alberta Environment and Parks.  

Project Updates

DATE STATUS DETAILS
Sept. 3, 2021 On-time The drawdown wells at the Elks Park former reclaimed landfill and at the City's former Public Works main yard and shop in Lede Park have been drilled and installed. 
August 18, 2021 On-time The locations of the wells have been determined; wells are expected to be drilled in fall 2021. 
June 30, 2021 On-time Pump test complete; modeling to confirm drawdown well location is in progress. 
April 12, 2021 On-time A contractor for well construction has been selected. Installation is planned for summer 2021.
