Personal Recommitment to Reconciliation In the spirit of reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples in the City of Leduc, I pledge to: Gain foundational knowledge about Indigenous Peoples, their past experiences, and their current realties. Which may include: Reading the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada’s 94 Calls to Action and look for ways to implement the calls to action in daily life; Reading the 231 Calls for Justice in the Final Report of the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls; and, Learning about the history of Canada’s residential school system. Actively support our Indigenous neighbours in the City of Leduc through participation and/or recognition of the following dates: National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit People on May 5 National Indigenous History Month each June, and National Indigenous Peoples Day on June 21 Treaty 6 Day on August 23 National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day on Sept. 30 Not perpetuate stereotypes and Indigenous-related myths and misconceptions in my conversations and observations.
