Recreation Program Policies
Our Staff
Our program staff will create a fun environment while fostering learning and growth with participants. Each staff person has successfully completed an RCMP Vulnerable Sector Check, Child Intervention Check, first aid certification and have taken training workshops designed for those working with children.
Age Categories
Age categories are designed so participants have similar ability, age and developmental readiness in each of a programs. Unless otherwise stated, participants must be of minimum age identified by the program by the first class.
Ratios for Children's Programs
Unless otherwise stated, leader to participant ratios are as follows:
- 0 – 2 (parented) 1 : 10
- 3 – 5 year olds 1 : 8
- 6 – 12 year olds 1 : 10
- 13 – 17 year olds 1 : 12
Parented programs unless stated have a ratio of 1 parent to 2 children. This keeps everyone safe and positively involved in our programs.
Pick Up and Drop Off
A parent or guardian is responsible for checking participants in and out of each program. Please be sure to advise staff upon check in if someone other than yourself is picking your child up. We require written permission from a parent or guardian if your child will be checking themselves in and out of our programs.
What to Bring to the Program
Please dress appropriately for your program. Indoor shoes are required for all Leduc Recreation Centre programs. All items should be personally labeled. Unless otherwise noted participants in children's programs are required to bring their own lunch, snacks and drinks that are completely peanut free.
Children with Special Needs
We encourage children with disabilities and/or special needs to participate in our programs. Please inform the Program Supervisor of your child’s needs prior to registration to ensure a positive program experience.
