Restriction Exemption Program starting Sept 20 at the LRC

The Government of Alberta has declared a state of public health emergency, and starting Sept. 20 will adopt a Restriction Exemption Program

The City of Leduc will participate in the program and visitors (aged 12 years and older) will be required to provide proof of vaccination, medical exemption or a negative PCR or rapid test (privately-paid, completed within the last 72 hours) when visiting the following facilities:

Note: Visitors under the age of 18 who are taking part in organized sport, recreation and performance bookings at City's facilities implementing the province's Restriction Exemption Program (e.g., Leduc Recreation Centre, Maclab Centre for the Performing Arts) are not required to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination/negative test.

What does this mean when accessing the Leduc Recreation Centre:

  • Up until Oct. 24, one dose will be accepted if it was received 14 days prior to accessing the facility.
  • Starting Oct. 25, two doses will be required and it must have been administered on or before Oct. 11.
  • You will be greeted at the entrance where a Rec Check Table will be set up.
  • Please be prepared to provide proof of vaccination, medical exemption or a negative PCR/rapid test that has been privately paid for within the last 72 hours. Visitors under the age of 18 who are taking part in organized sport, recreation and performance bookings are not require to provide this documentation.
  • Once past the Rec Check Table, guests will be free to move about the facility as per usual. Face masks are still required for all visitors whether they are vaccinated or not.
  • During the initial stages of the program, please plan to arrive a little earlier than normal. We ask for patience as City employees review patrons’ individual paperwork at the door.
  • We will process refunds at the Leduc Recreation Centre upon request and appreciate your patience as our teams are fielding a number of inquires. Please email lrc@leduc.ca or phone 780-980-7120 for assistance.
  • We have been in contact with sport organizations and user groups who frequently access the Leduc Recreation Centre.

Other City-run indoor facilities

All other City-run indoor facilities – including the Leduc Civic Centre –
will not require proof of vaccination, medical exemption or a negative PCR or rapid test to enter but will operate with reduced capacity limits as directed by the Government of Alberta. This will allow the City of Leduc to maintain ease of access to essential services for all residents and community members.

Leduc Transit

Riders on Leduc Transit will not be required to provide proof of vaccination, medical exemption or a negative PCR or rapid test to board.

Additional provincial public health measures are also in effect to help reduce transmission. The public is encouraged to get vaccinated, visit the Government of Alberta’s website for more information and to stay up to date. Please continue to be patient, respectful and compassionate to one another and our staff.
