Are you looking for a way to meet your neighbours?

Start your own neighbourhood soup night! This is a fun and inexpensive way to gather friends and neighbours on a regular basis. Recruit a neighbour to help spread the word. Write an invitiation, explaining the idea and giving the basics. Include your name, address, phone number, date and set a time. Go door to door to introduce yourself and drop off an invite. No need to RSVP, everyone is welcomed!

4 Simple Tips for Hosting a Soup Night

  1. Keep it simple! Ask each neighbour to bring their own bowl. This will cut down on the clean-up and allow more time for socializing. Create a cozy environment rathar than fancy! This will help make your guests feel comfortable and relaxed.
  2. Plan the menu. Consider offering two pots of soup with one being a vegetarian option. Many soups can be prepared in advance or in a crockpot. Don't forget to set the table with crackers or bread rolls to accompany the soup.
  3. Share your recipes. Create an online platform, such as a Pinterest board, to share the recipes  from the night with your guests!
  4. Pass the ladle. At the end of the night, the host can pass the ladle to the neighbour who will be hosting the next soup night.
