Public engagement gives people the opportunity to contribute to decisions that impact them, know their input is valued, and feel welcome/safe to share their ideas and perspectives.

This location opened in May 2025 as the second year of a pilot project, and visitors are encouraged to share their thoughts on the temporary location by scanning a QR code posted on-site or by filling out the online survey. Feedback will be used to decide if this location should be made permanent.
Public commentary allows individuals to address the council on city matters during a meeting in a brief and informal manner. Rules for public presentations are detailed in Section 7 of the Council Procedure Bylaw.
The public can register for public commentary immediately before the meeting, upon arrival. Pre-registration is not required. A five-minute time limit has been established. Inappropriate topics for public commentary are identified, and the chair may interrupt or end public commentary in those instances.
Individuals and groups who wish to make a formal presentation at a council meeting are asked to apply by completing the Presentation Request Form. The City Clerk’s Office will contact the individual/group to set the date and time of their presentation. All presentations, which include a question period, should not exceed 15 minutes. Rules for how formal presentations work are outlined in Section 7 of the Council Procedures Bylaw.
