A third fire hall will be built on the east side of the City of Leduc. Construction is expected to take two years to complete. The location of the new fire hall will enhance emergency response capabilities in the industrial area and provide improved coverage for residential areas.

Fire Hall 3 will be single-story building and include:

  • Six dormitories
  • Offices
  • Dayroom
  • Workout room
  • Classroom
  • An apparatus bay with two double-length bays
  • Gear storage
  • Maintenance rooms
  • A mezzanine

Project Update

Construction Project - Firehall 3

Date Status
April 30 Topsoil stripping is complete. Clay fill import for under the building is ongoing. Site servicing work is scheduled to start next week.
May 15 Site servicing to building is complete. Clay import to building pad is complete. Under-building services will start this week, with pile installation to follow in the coming weeks.
May 29 Under building service installations are complete. Pile installation has started and will continue next week. Grade beam excavation and formwork will follow.
June 13 Pile installation is completed. Grade beam excavation has commenced and gradebeam formwork and placement will continue next week.
June 26 Gradebeam excavation is completed. Gradebeam and pilecap formwork is ongoing and will continue next week. Gradebeam concrete will commence next week.
July 24 Gradebeam and pilecaps are complete and backfilled. The sanitary line within the building has been installed. Underslab service installation will continue. Erection of the precast panels for the apparatus bay will commence next week. Earthworks for the 65th Avenue drivelane connection have started.
Aug. 7 Under building deep services with risers are complete. Precast panels have been erected; welding of the panels will continue through next week. Rough grade of the driveway connection to 65 Avenue is completed. The office area subgrade compaction is completed; slab preparation will commence at the end of next week. Underslab and site electrical work will commence next week. Structural steel erection will commence in the next two weeks.
Sept. 4 Precast panel installation is completed. Structural steel erection has started. Steel is up in the apparatus bay with the roof decking install ongoing. Structural steel in the office area is starting this week. Ongoing weather delays has negatively impacted progress towards completing the office slab and it is now rescheduled after roof installation. Site electrical rough in is ongoing and near completion.
Sept. 18 Structural steel and roof decking of the apparatus bay is complete. Structural steel in the office area is complete with decking ongoing. Roof curb and parapet is onoing. Site concrete work will commence in the coming weeks.
Oct. 1 Roof decking to the office area is complete. Roof parapet is ongoing. Site electrical rough-ins are complete. Exterior steel stud framing and sidewalk subgrade prep has begun.
Oct. 15 Roof parapet, exterior steel stud framing, and sidewalk prep are all ongoing. The next two weeks will see concrete sidewalks, roofing, exterior brick, and curtainwall framing commence. 
Oct. 31 Roof parapet, exterior steel stud framing, and concrete sidewalks are complete. All underground rough-ins in the office area are complete. Roofing, exterior brick, and concrete apron prep have begun. The next two weeks will see parking lot and drive lane subgrade preparation. Curtainwall framing will also start and roofing and exterior brick will continue.
Nov. 18 Roofing and exterior masonry are ongoing. Concrete aprons are installed and drive lane/parking lot subgrade prep, stabilization and granular are complete. Curtainwall framing has commenced and radon rock under the office slab are complete. In the next two weeks the office slab will be poured and stud walls will commence, cladding install will commence, and apparatus bay sumps and trench install will begin.
Nov. 27 Roofing and exterior masonry are almost complete. Curtainwall framing is complete and glazing installation has commenced. The office slab has been placed and finished. Steel stud wall installation has started. Upcoming work in the next few weeks includes the continuation of glazing and steel stud rough-in, along with mechanical and electrical rough-in in the office.
Dec. 12 Steel stud walls have been installed in the office area. Mechanical and electrical rough-in of the office area has started. Glazing has been installed. Upcoming work includes continuation of mechanical and electrical work in the office, installation of the roof top HVAC units, and start of the sprinkler system and exterior cladding. In the apparatus bay, the subgrade prep for the slab has begun. Sections of the slab and trenches will be placed in the coming weeks along with the mezzanine slab.
