Recreation & Community Development is responsible for ensuring that quality of life opportunities and experiences are available to the residents of Leduc through the development, management, and support of recreational and cultural services as well as the development, management and preservation of parks and open spaces.

Our vision is of a thriving community with an abundance of parks, recreation and cultural activities, programs, events and facilities to promote a healthy and happy environment for all residents and visitors.

Recreation & Culture Facility Needs Assessment

The City of Leduc undertook the development of this Recreation & Culture Facility Needs Assessment to ensure that the its long term facility planning continues to reflect the community’s current and emerging recreation and culture needs. As the City and surrounding area grows and evolves, it is important for the City and its partners in recreation and culture to have a current understanding of demands, trends and preliminary priorities for a wide array of community facilities.

Recreation, Parks and Open Space Development

Leduc City Council approved concept designs for the North Telford lands, which aligns with the city’s Telford Lake Master Plan. This plan takes a multi-year approach to achieve key design features as one of Leduc’s greatest outdoor amenities.

Telford Lake is an important natural feature and recreational amenity to the City of Leduc and to the citizens who enjoy it throughout the year. The lake is an anchor for some of Leduc’s more important recreation facilities including the Multiway, Telford House Park, the Cultural Villages, and William F. Lede Regional Park.

The Lede Park Master Plan provides for regional outdoor athletic fields and facilities close to the LRC. Enhanced with advanced irrigation and additional field construction, these athletic fields and facilities will continue to provide outstanding service to all community groups, with more opportunities for sporting groups to practice and host large events.
