As the City of Leduc prepares to open a third fire station in early 2027, Leduc Fire Services is hosting its largest recruitment drive in 10 years for new firefighters and paramedics in 2026.

Tentative 2026 Recruitment Schedule:

  • January-February: postings go live for full-time and paid on call positions
  • February: aptitude tests (for all applicants), medical knowledge and skills testing (for firefighter/paramedic applicants)
  • March: Firefighter physical test (physical test details)
  • April: Interviews

*Candidates with a successful University of Alberta firefighter physical test within 6 months of the posting date are not required to take the Leduc firefighter physical test.

Positions:

  • Work regular shifts on both the fire engine and ambulance
  • Shift work rotation is one 24-hour shift > 24 hours off > one 24-hour shift > five full days off
  • Not required to reside in the City of Leduc
  • Work on both the fire engine and ambulance
  • Work is casual, covering vacation, sick time, etc. (may be up to full-time hours)
  • When large events occur, responds from home to the fire station, then on the fire truck to the event—expectation is a minimum of five responses per month
  • Requires residence in the City of Leduc
  • Do not work scheduled shifts

  • Work ambulance shifts on a casual basis (may be up to full-time hours)
