On June 22, 2026, the City of Leduc received correspondence from the Minister of Hospital and Surgical Services regarding the future delivery of ambulance services in Alberta.
The Minister advised that the process underway to secure future ambulance service contracts has been paused while EHS Alberta reviews its approach to providing cost-effective provincial ambulance services and undertakes further engagement with municipalities and other stakeholders.
This is a significant development, and the City is actively engaging with the Province and EHS Alberta leadership to better understand what it means for the City of Leduc, our residents, and the future of ambulance service delivery in our community, including the long-term sustainability of the integrated service model we operate today.
As we work through this process, our focus remains on ensuring residents continue to receive safe, reliable emergency services and that the City has the information necessary to make informed decisions about the future.
