With the holiday season underway, the City of Leduc is reminding all motorists to keep safety top of mind.
Last Friday, Enforcement Services and Fire Services teamed up with MADD, Victim Services and the Leduc RCMP for the annual Candy Cane Checkstop. The event offered a friendly reminder to drivers about staying safe on our roads throughout the holiday and winter months.

Leduc’s elementary School Resource Officer is also helping share that message through the annual liquor bag campaign. Grade 5 students learn about the impact of responsible driving choices and decorate paper bags with safety messages. These bags are then distributed to local liquor stores throughout December, offering customers a thoughtful reminder to plan ahead and make safe transportation decisions.
Whether you’re heading to a seasonal celebration or simply driving as part of your daily routine, please keep these safety tips in mind to ensure everyone makes it home safely:
- Stay alert and focused when behind the wheel
- Avoid any substances or activities that may impair your ability to drive
- Plan a safe ride home; organize a designated driver, use public transit, or call a taxi
- Clear snow and ice from windows, mirrors, and lights to maintain visibility
- Be aware of road conditions, check advisories, and keep an emergency kit in your vehicle
- If weather conditions worsen, consider delaying travel or adjusting your plans
Wishing everyone in Leduc a safe and happy holiday season!
