Environmental Achievement Award

Recipient of the 2024 Environmental Achievement Award, Cindy Lee Danyluk-Boisvert is a self-described “country girl” who found her true calling in environmental advocacy.

Born in Beverly and raised in Ardrossan, Cindy and her husband Andre moved to the North Telford area of Leduc in 2018. Cindy felt an immediate connection with the land and its waters. After joining the Leduc Wildlife Conservation Society in 2023, Cindy became a director and helped lead advocacy efforts for a larger buffer around Telford Lake. Her nature photography, first published in the Leduc Representative, took on a life of its own. Inspired by her father and a neighbour who introduced her to iNaturalist, Cindy became Alberta’s 10th-ranked observer, founding the “Leduc AB Biodiversity” project to showcase local species, including endangered ones.

Cindy has advocated before city council, written to provincial and federal leaders, and received a letter from Buckingham Palace in response to her proposal for a protected reserve. She also founded the community platform “Why I Love Telford Lake.”

Cindy’s goal is to inspire a deeper connection between people and the natural world through public engagement, tireless documentation and nature photography. She stands as a devoted voice for the land, the lake, and all who call it home.
