The City is moving into the next phase of its proposed annexation, and nearing completion on key technical studies. This work follows the first round of community input earlier this year.
What we’ve heard from the community
During the first round of engagement in 2026, participants shared a range of perspectives on growth, land use, and the potential impacts of annexation. At a high level, feedback highlighted the importance of:
- Planning for growth in a way that is responsible and well-managed
- Protecting agricultural land and existing ways of life
- Ensuring infrastructure and services keep pace with development
- Understanding how annexation may affect property taxes, including questions about potential changes over time
- Maintaining open, transparent communication throughout the process
This input is important for the City to understand landowner and stakeholder concerns. Information is being logged for further consideration and to be addressed during later stages of the annexation process.
Next round of engagement
In June, the City will conduct an online survey and host drop-in open houses to hear from affected owners and interested residents. A key focus of this engagement will be the results of the City’s Growth Management Study, which looks at how much land Leduc will need to support growth over the next 50 years and where future growth makes the most sense.
- Online survey (June 17–July 15)
- For affected owners: June 17 from 2–4 p.m. and June 18 from 5:30–7:30 p.m.
- For other interested residents: June 17 from 5:30–7:30 p.m. and June 18 from 2–4 p.m.
No final decisions have been made. Public input will continue to play an important role as the project moves forward.
