Community safety efforts contribute to crime reduction in Leduc

The City of Leduc’s collaborative community safety efforts and initiatives with the Leduc RCMP are making positive impacts, as demonstrated by Statistics Canada’s recently released 2025 police-reported crime statistics, which show a significant decline in the City’s Crime Severity Index (CSI).

The City of Leduc’s CSI decreased 9.1 per cent in 2025, falling from a revised 85.2 in 2024 to 77.4. This decline outpaced the provincial trend, with Alberta’s CSI decreasing 6.6 per cent over the same period.

The results reflect the collective efforts of the Leduc RCMP, City of Leduc, community partners, and residents who are working together to enhance safety and well-being throughout the community.

According to the Leduc RCMP, declines in crime were driven by reductions in mischief and drug trafficking offenses within the City. The RCMP’s proactive community safety plan, supported by intelligence-led policing and strong partnerships, played a significant role in these outcomes.

While the positive results are encouraging, the City remains focused on continuous improvement and will continue working with the Leduc RCMP to prioritize a coordinated approach to community safety for all through education, enforcement, and emergency response.
