The City of Leduc has been recognized nationally with a 2026 Municipal Inspiring Workplace Award from the Canadian Association of Municipal Administrators (CAMA).

The award recognizes municipalities across Canada that are demonstrating leadership in creating positive, people-focused workplaces, with a focus on strong leadership practices, supportive work environments, and approaches that improve employee experience, engagement, and well-being.

For the City of Leduc, this recognition reflects the work underway to enhance the employee experience through the People Strategy & Plan (2025–2029)—a five-year roadmap focused on supporting employees from recruitment and onboarding through to growth and development—enabling employees to deliver strong service to the community.

The City has been focused on building a stronger foundation for employees. Over the past year, nearly all staff have completed training on a new Employee Code of Conduct, human resources policies have been simplified into clear, accessible directives, and participation in safety training has increased significantly. The City has also expanded psychological health supports and strengthened recruitment efforts, with more people applying for roles.

“CAMA is pleased to recognize Leduc for the municipal excellence demonstrated by their strategy and plan,” said Brenda Orchard, CAMA Past President. “This distinctive and novel approach is more than simply new policies and programs; it is about making the City of Leduc a great place to work and providing the right conditions for employees to thrive. In turn, it will make the community a better place to live and do business within.”

A total of 54 submissions were received for this year’s CAMA awards program, highlighting the strong work taking place in municipalities across the country.

“This is something the organization can take pride in,” said Derek Prohar, City of Leduc City Manager. “It reflects steady, intentional work to strengthen how we support our people. We’re seeing early progress, and we’re committed to continuing that effort over time.”

This recognition reinforces the connection between supporting employees and delivering strong, reliable services to the community.

CAMA representative Troy Fleming presented the award at the City Council meeting on June 22, 2026.
