With the completion of the public engagement process, development of Leduc’s Housing Strategy continues. Over 1,000 residents responded to a survey distributed in February 2024 focused on housing needs in Leduc. The community’s main concerns are rooted in the challenges of purchasing a home and the of anxiety of mortgage and rent payments becoming unaffordable.
Leduc’s strong growth in the past decade can be attributed to the city’s location, which attracts developers and people from the region due to affordability of single-family homes in relation to Edmonton. This growth has brought on new housing concerns since the City’s Attainable Housing Strategy (AHS) was adopted in 2008. The new Housing Strategy in development will replace and expand on the AHS.
