Confidential guidance to help you strengthen wellbeing, navigate life’s challenges, and access the right supports

Life can bring stress, relationship challenges, mental wellness challenges, or moments where you simply feel stuck.

FCSS offers free, confidential and prevention-focused support to help you understand your options, build coping strategies, and connect to resources that best fit your needs.

You don’t need to be in crisis to reach out – many residents connect with us for everyday concerns, early support, or to talk through a situation with someone who understands.

How we support your mental wellness

  • Stress, anxiety, mental wellness concerns
  • Relationship or family challenges
  • Grief, isolation or life transitions
  • Building personal coping strategies
  • Identifying next steps and understanding available supports
  • Navigating provincial and community mental health services, addictions supports, and family violence prevention resources

All conversations are confidential, and our role is to help you find clarity, understand your options, and feel supported.

FCSS helps residents with subsidized counselling, making mental health services more affordable. We connect you with counselling that fits your needs and ensure cost isn’t a barrier to getting help.

  • Short-term counselling is available for individuals, couples, and family therapy. Fees are based on household annual income and can range from $15-$55 per appointment. Clients must have no access to benefits or have used up their benefits.
  • Income eligibility: maximum household income of $75,000

FCSS is a navigator, helping residents identify and access the most appropriate supports across the community and province. These may include:

  • Local counselling providers
  • Addictions and recovery supports
  • LGBTQ2S+ supports
  • Family violence prevention programs
  • Alberta Works and provincial income/benefit programs
  • Mental health and crisis services (including 211 and crisis lines)
  • Peer support groups and workshops
