Starting Oct. 1, Alberta’s recycling program will accept more items in residents’ blue bag collection. The new, unified and expanded collection list will standardize recycling collection across the province, make recycling easier for residents, improve recycling rates and help reduce waste in Alberta.
For Leduc residents, this means the following items can be placed in your weekly blue bag collection as of Oct. 1:
- Glass containers
- Foam packaging (meat trays)
- Flexible plastic packaging (chip bags, bubble wrap, and snack wrappers)
- Aerosol containers
- Laminated paper and plastic packaging (ice cream containers and hot/cold beverage cups)
- Deodorant sticks, toothpaste tubes and lotion tubes

This enhanced list is part of the second phase of the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) program, which began in 2025 with Circular Materials managing recycling for packaging and paper products.
