The City of Leduc welcomes respectful conversation on our social media platforms. Our goal is to create a positive space where residents and followers can engage in meaningful dialogue with the City.

We encourage comments that are constructive, helpful, and relevant to the topic at hand. Personal attacks and offensive content will not be permitted. Comments that violate these terms may be removed, and users who repeatedly disregard these guidelines may have their access limited or blocked.

Comment Standards

To ensure a safe and welcoming environment, comments of the following nature may be removed:

  • Off-topic or irrelevant: Comments not related to the posted content.
  • Offensive or abusive: Language that is profane, hateful, insulting, threatening, rude, aggressive, or violent.
  • Discriminatory: Content that discriminates against someone based on race, national or ethnic origin, age, creed, gender, marital status, socio-economic status, physical or mental ability, or sexual orientation.
  • Sexual content: Sexual material or links to sexual content.
  • Advertising and spam: Commercial messages, promotions, or repetitive postings.
  • Illegal activity: Messages encouraging or promoting unlawful behavior.
  • Privacy violations: Sharing personal information without consent.
  • Public safety concerns: Content that could compromise security, safety, or City operations.
  • Copyright infringement: Content that violates legal ownership or intellectual property rights.
  • Misrepresentation: Impersonating or misrepresenting another person, including public figures or City officials.
  • Disruptive messages: Comments that interfere with respectful dialogue or detract from constructive discussion.
  • The comment feature on posts may be disabled at any time in instances:
    • Where comments may pose a risk of harm to individuals or groups.
    • Where the risk of misinformation is high and could undermine public understanding or safety.
    • Where information is posted about a public engagement opportunity and/or survey to ensure all feedback is gathered through the official engagement mechanism.

Monitoring & Administration

  • This page is monitored from 8:30 –4:30 Monday–Friday, excluding statutory holidays.
  • The City of Leduc strives to respond promptly to relevant questions and comments; however, we are unable to engage in all conversations and reserve the right to use our discretion in determining which messages and comments receive a response.
  • If a response is appropriate, direct messages will receive a response within 24 hours, between Monday and Friday, excluding statutory holidays. Messages received on weekends, or statutory holidays will receive a response on the next business day.
  • The City is not responsible for material posted by users.
  • Comments are considered public information and may be stored and subject to disclosure under the Access to Information Act (ATIA) and Protection of Privacy Act (POPA)

Recognition on Social Media

The City of Leduc recognizes four key dates annually by changing its profile photo for one week:

  • Pride Month (June)
  • Canada Day (July)
  • National Day for Truth and Reconciliation (September)
  • Veterans’ Week, including Remembrance Day (November)

These observances reflect national and community significance. The City may also recognize other occasions consistent with its values and Council direction.
