Roads naturally deteriorate over time due to traffic and changing weather. When a roadway becomes too worn or structurally damaged, road reconstruction is a full rebuild of a roadway from the ground up. Each year, a few back lanes in Leduc are selected for reconstruction based on pavement conditions, safety concerns and potential underground utility upgrades. Notifications will be mailed to impacted households before construction begins.
During reconstruction, impacted households can potentially expect:
- Limited and/or no access to the back lane
- To move parked RVs before construction begins
- Changes to waste collection schedule and or location
- Temporary disruptions to gas, power, and other utilities
- Increased noise, dust, and equipment on-site during daytime work hours
- Notices from contractors with more specific details and timelines about work beginning and progress
