Leduc is growing and the City wants to make sure recreation, leisure, and wellness programs are keeping up.

With that in mind, the City is conducting a Recreation Program Needs Assessment and is inviting residents to share their input on what’s working, what’s missing, and what could be better. Your input will help shape the programs and services the City offers now and in the years ahead.

Why we’re doing this study?

Leduc’s community is changing. People’s lives, schedules, and needs look different than they did even five years ago. The City wants to make sure programs and spaces reflect how residents live, play, connect, and take care of their health and wellness today.

This project will help us answer some important questions:

  • What programs are working well and should continue to be offered?
  • Where are there gaps or barriers that prevent people from participating?
  • How can programs better serve all residents, including families, seniors, adults, youth, and newcomers?
  • What new opportunities should the City explore in the future?

How we’re going to answer those important questions

This project has three phases:

  1. Research and review
The City will review current programs, facility access and allocation, and community trends to understand how services are being used and where there may be room to improve.
  2. Hearing from you
Residents and program providers will be invited to share their experiences and ideas through an online survey and a series of focus group conversations. This is a very important part and will take place throughout April and May.
  3. Analysis and recommendations
The findings will be used to help identify priorities and develop a clear, practical plan to guide program decisions going forward.

Project Timeline

Phase Status
Research and Review Underway
Community Survey Opening April 13
Focus Groups Registrations open, sessions in May
Analysis and Reporting Coming July 2026

How can you participate in the study?
There are different ways to share your opinions. Take the survey. Join a focus group. Make your voice count.

Take the survey
The survey will be open from April 13 to April 30. It takes about 10 minutes to complete.

Join a focus group
Small group 90-minute conversations happening May 2026.
Register your interest today.

What happens with your input?

Everything shared through the survey and focus groups will be reviewed and included in the final needs assessment report. That report will include:

  • A summary of what we heard from the community
  • Key findings about current programs and unmet needs
  • Recommendations and an action plan for the City to act on
