The City of Leduc Municipal Development Plan (MDP) is a statutory document that is used by Council and Administration to direct decisions around land use, provision of community services, and investment in infrastructure for all land within Leduc’s municipal boundaries. The MDP describes Council’s long-term vision for the City and provides a comprehensive policy framework to guide future growth and development.

As an expression of the community’s long-term vision for land use with a 25 to 30 year outlook, the MDP is amended from time-to-time to respond to and remain consistent with new or updated legislation, best practices, other related land use plans, market demand and trends, and other strategic planning initiatives.

Bylaw No. 1261-2026

Bylaw No. 1261-2026 is required to amend the Municipal Development Plan (Bylaw No. 1057-2020) to:

  • Remove image reference inserts for the Urban Centre, Central Redevelopment Area, Residential Areas, and Employment Areas, and image inserts referencing densities.
  • Add an additional interim policy and definition related to non-acceptance of applications which would create lots for new narrow townhouse products (those townhouse dwellings under 5.48m (18 feet) in width).
  • Add the word “Centre” to the Urban Centre Redevelopment Plan text for clarification and remove an old reference to an Edmonton Region Metropolitan Board term.

A copy of the proposed bylaws that will be presented to City Council may be inspected by the public between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 12:00 noon and 1:00 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. at the Office of the City Clerk, City Hall, Leduc Civic Centre, 1 Alexandra Park, 46th Avenue and 48A Street, Leduc, Alberta. A copy of the proposed bylaws may also be viewed on the City’s website (www.leduc.ca/hearing-notices). Inquiries can be made by contacting the Planning & Economic Development department ([email protected]; (780)-980-7124).
