The new school year is upon us, and students, families and school staff are getting back to business. Whether it’s your first day of kindergarten or your final year of high school, we wish everyone a safe and successful year.
A message from Leduc’s School Resource Officers (SRO):
CPO Agotnes (the elementary SRO) and Constable McNab (the Jr. & Sr. High SRO) support students in both Black Gold School Division and STAR Catholic School Division. They cultivate safe spaces and positive relationships with students, provide class presentations on safety topics, offer mentorship, work with school staff and parents, and are generally involved in school activities.
A few friendly reminders for drivers, parents, neighbours, and students:
- Slow down on the road: School zones (30 km/hr) and residential neighbourhoods (40 km/hr) are busy areas, and speed limits are lower to help keep everyone safe.
- Watch for pedestrians: Expect increased foot traffic before and after school. Slow down and give space to people crossing the street and getting in and out of vehicles.
- Stop for school buses: When the stop arm is out, traffic in both directions must stop.
- Use crosswalks: Increase your visibility and help drivers by using crosswalks and looking both ways before crossing the road.
