Aeryn Keeping
Youth Award of Merit
Born and raised in Leduc, youth leader Aeryn Keeping is the recipient of the 2024 Youth Award of Merit.
Just starting her Grade 12 year at Christ the King School, Aeryn is already well known for her leadership, mentorship and volunteerism. A valued member of the drama production team, she helps to coordinate events and mentor younger students. In 2024, she took on the tremendous responsibility of coordinating the school’s Remembrance Day service and ceremonies. Her dedication and leadership showcased her ability to guide and inspire others.
Aeryn has been a part of Scouting since she was five, progressing through the program from Beavers to Venturers. She has always enjoyed helping out with younger sections, and when she was 14 she chose to take the leadership training offered by Scouts Canada for adult volunteers. As a junior leader, she helps mentor and support younger sections. She is now also the youth commissioner for 1st Leduc Scouting, and she represented Leduc at the 2024 Iceland National Jamboree.
Aeryn is active in her church community, and volunteers at the St. Michael’s Vacation Bible School during the summer. She is known for fostering a welcoming and collaborative environment, teaching kids to have fun through learning, and leading by example.
For Aeryn, volunteering is its own reward. It offers many opportunities and friendships, and she most enjoys having a positive impact on those around her.
