Anthony Koopmans
Community Spirit Award
Recipient of the 2024 Community Spirit Award, Anthony Koopmans is known for his kindness and his desire to help others. When something needs doing, Anthony is the first to offer his assistance, whether it’s delivering furniture for the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, volunteering for the Cadets program or lending a hand at the Leduc Black Gold Pro Rodeo.
Born in Edmonton in 1994, Anthony was adopted by his foster family at age two and raised on a farm south of Leduc. After graduating from Leduc Composite High School, he attended Red Deer College for a year and then came back to live and work in Leduc while attending programs at the Leduc LINX Connect Centre.
A very active volunteer in the community, Anthony loves meeting people and helping out wherever he can. Until the Leduc Hub Association closed in May 2024, Anthony was a regular volunteer who would make everyone feel welcome. He assists the Covenant Christian School with their spring musical production each year, and at the Ebenezer Christian Reformed Church he is a counsellor for their Cadets program. He works behind the scenes at sporting events, festivals and weekly church functions to ensure they are a success.
Anthony inspires those around him with his dedication, hard work and kindness to all.
