Ingrid Shields

Ingrid Shields, recipient of the 2025 Arts, Culture and Heritage Award, has been a driving force in the growth and success of the arts and culture in Leduc for more than 20 years. Through her passion, leadership and tireless volunteerism, she has helped transform the local arts scene from humble beginnings into a vibrant and inclusive community that continues to inspire residents and visitors alike.

Ingrid discovered her love for art at an early age. Now an avid painter, her passion is fostering creativity and opportunities for artists. A founding member of the Leduc Arts Foundry and longtime member of the Leduc Art Club, she helps organize events, mentors emerging artists and continues to develop new initiatives. One of the accomplishments she is most proud of is co-founding the Aspiring Young Artists Awards, which is celebrating 15 years of encouraging young creatives. She also co-founded the Leduc Art Walk, an event that attracts thousands of visitors each year. New collaborations include partnerships with the Leduc Black Gold Rodeo Art Competition and Come Paint Alberta.

For Ingrid, volunteering provides a deep sense of fulfillment. She also enjoys spending time with family, painting, gardening and skiing. Her vision for Leduc is to continue building a sustainable and inclusive arts culture.
