Kevin Eklund

Recipient of the 2024 Mayor’s Choice Award, Kevin Eklund has a history of volunteerism dating back to high school. He joined the Kinsmen Club of Leduc when he was in his mid-20s, and for more than 30 years has been an active member involved in projects and fundraising throughout the community. He’s held every executive position within the club and was honoured with a national life membership.

Seeing the difference the Kinsmen Club’s hard work has made in the community is what makes Kevin proudest. Whether it’s the ball diamonds, spray park or the sports park, all throughout Leduc there is evidence of the club’s initiatives. When the beloved Leduc Country Lights display was scheduled to close, the Kinsmen Club championed the effort to keep the tradition going. Kevin has served as chairman of the project for the past six years, and in partnership with the Leduc West Antique Society hosts the annual lights display for 25,000 visitors each year. Kevin has also served as the president of the Leduc West Antique Society for the past four years.

Alongside his volunteering journey, Kevin’s career has focused on automotive sales and dealership management. He and his wife of 30 years raised their two daughters in Leduc. Volunteering has always played a big role, and Kevin cherishes the opportunities and friendships gained for himself and his family along the way.
