Margot Hagarty
Mayor’s Choice Award
Recipient of the 2025 Mayor’s Special Award, Margot Hagarty is a respected leader in Alberta’s housing and health care sectors, with a career dedicated to strengthening organizations, supporting vulnerable populations and building community.
As executive director of the Leduc Regional Housing Foundation (LRHF) from 2020 to 2026, Margot’s resident-focused leadership has advanced affordable housing, organizational sustainability and partnerships throughout the region. Under her guidance, the LRHF successfully developed Gaetz Landing II, a 24-unit affordable housing project, with 50% of the units dedicated to women fleeing violence. Delivered through funding partnerships with all three levels of government, the project was completed within a year of securing final funding. Margot also championed long-term planning initiatives, strengthened the LRHF’s financial position through enhanced reserves and grant funding, and led organizational modernization efforts. Her commitment to community engagement resulted in the LRHF’s Annual Fundraising Breakfast, which has grown into a successful awareness and fundraising initiative. The Regional Chamber named the LRHF the 2023 Not for Profit Organization of the Year.
Margot is also a proud grandmother of two. She enjoys gardening and spending time with family. Thanks to her vision and commitment, Margot has left a lasting legacy of strengthened housing services, meaningful partnerships and improved quality of life for residents across the Leduc region.
