Updated on Dec. 22:

The Province will reopen the old 50 Street bridge tomorrow for the holiday season. Speeds will be reduced to 30 km / hour and the lane will be narrowed using steel plates. Please watch for and follow all signage. We anticipate it will close again in new year (starting Jan. 7) so maintenance work can continue. We appreciate the community’s patience with the ongoing work and encourage you to watch 511.alberta.ca for future updates.

Updated on Dec. 18:
The Province’s maintenance work on the original 50 Street bridge has been extended because the scope of work required is more involved than initially anticipated. Critical work is required before the bridge can reopen. An update will be provided should the closure extend beyond the holiday season. For more information and updates, visit 511.alberta.ca

Thank you for your continued patience.

Updated on Dec. 15 to clarify the maintenance work on the westbound 50 Street bridge.

From Dec. 15 to 19, the 50 Street bridge (westbound) will be temporarily closed for maintenance work on the original 50 Street bridge, which was not in scope for the 65 Avenue and QEII Interchange project that delivered the new eastbound bridge. There will be no access from the 50 Street roundabout. Motorists can detour using Airport Road or 50 Avenue. We appreciate your patience. For updates, visit 511.alberta.ca
