The City’s 2025 Environmental Progress Report highlights the collective steps the community is taking to protect the environment and build a more sustainable future.
2025 highlights
- The total number of mobile users accessing Recycle Coach, the City’s waste sorting app, increased by 15 per cent in 2025 compared to 2024. Additionally, the total number of interactions on the app increased by 2.5 per cent in 2025 compared to 2024. Of that, the most popular items searched were clear rigid plastic food containers, glass and plastic bottles, food items and pizza boxes.
- Waste diversion rate remains strong at 50 per cent as residents continue to properly sort their waste.
- In December, the City hosted its first Winter Bird Count event with 25 residents coming out to bird watch. A total of 1,898 birds (31 species) were sighted by residents.
